I've been getting so many e-mails,
I thought I would devote a page to my son's band - Avenged Sevenfold.

This was taken at the signing at Tower records in Hollywood on June 7, 2005. My two boys - Brent and Syn - One drummer and two guitar slingers.

First let me answer the questions that most of you have been asking. Here is the technical mumbo jumbo.

I played nearly all of the acoustic guitar on City Of Evil.
I will try to be as thorough as possible.
For COE, I played a Taylor 514 CE steel string acoustic. A '86 Yamaha G231 nylon string acoustic. A '75 Les Paul Standard , a '52 Telecaster B-bender, a Schecter PT tele & a '76 Shobud single neck pedal steel.

Song by song:
The end of Blind in Chains (Look at the way we're dying) (Taylor)
Middle and end of Bat Country (The slow part) (Taylor)
All the acoustic on Seize the Day and electric rhythm. (Taylor & Les Paul)
The end of Sidewinder. Rhythm and first acoustic solo (left speaker) (Taylor & Yamaha)
Acoustic and pedal steel on Strength of the World. Also the super low electric guitar notes in the intro. (Taylor, Shobud & Schecter PT Tele) Vocal backup on MIA.

All guitars tuned Low E Down to D.

It really isn't my place to reveal anything personal about the band, (judging from what I've read on the boards, you guys know more than I do anyway.) Everything they want you to know about them can be found on their website and in magazine or TV interviews.

One thing is for sure - A7X has some of the most dedicated and greatest fans in the world and the band appreciates you more than you will ever know.

Of all my accomplishments as a musician over the past thirty years, I think I'm most proud of being a very small part of City of Evil and being referred to as Papa Gates by the guys in the band.

P.S. I don't respond to IM's and I don't answer e-mail about the band, (other than guitar talk), so don't bother. If you still want to e-mail me - feel free.

Enjoy.
